Gazprom pipeline project harms Arctic tundra
Gazprom’s construction of the 1100 km long pipeline between the Bovanenkovo field in Yamal to Ukhta in the Komi Republic is violating environmental legislation, local public organizations say.

Catlin Arctic Survey team complete research
When the Catlin Arctic Survey team headed out to study the condition of ice in the Arctic, they were expecting to find some of the thicker, older ice that was once predominant in the region. Instead they discovered only thinner “young” ice that has only been around for a year and will most likely melt over the course of the summer.

Strengthening the Barents Regional Council
The Barents Regional Council should become a much stronger political body than it is today, Council Chair Pauli Saapunki highlighted in a council session this Wednesday. He believes the council, which includes political leaders from 13 Nordic and Northwest Russian regions, should have a bigger say in High North cross-border issues.

Mitsui in talks with Gazprom to expand tie-up
