U.S.-Russia Polar Bear Agreement

An agreement signed between U.S. and Russia in October 2000. The agreement creates a joint commission that establishes policy and sets annual harvest limits. The agreement gives indigenous peoples in Chukotka and Alaska the ability to veto any decision that would be counter to their interests under the treaty.
